It’s no longer pear shaped, it’s turning into a circus. One loss out of 6, with 2 draws(losses), tells me that our game plan ain’t working. Neither is our player selection. I refuse to accept that the bullshit we get served every week is remotely the reason why the Springboks are doing so badly.
In hindsight, some will say that we need to give HM the benefit of the doubt. But for what reason? Why should I feel comfortable in playing a Kick and Chase game? Why should Pat Lambie sit out two whole games and bought on when the chips are down, and the game is all but lost? Why should a player of certain union stature get Test after Test to prove themselves worthy, only to still fail to inspire a team when another gets one game, and dumped to the Currie Cup?
Another excuse I am so sick of, is the loss of experience. We lost over 500 caps of experience, but everyone knew that it was bound to happen. Now they are all blaming the likes of Peter De Villiers for not bringing through the talented youngsters we have at our disposal, but did anyone for one minute consider that not just does players retire year after year, but the All Blacks had to make due with a few of their experienced players as well and they seem to be doing OK. So this is not an excuse, it is rather a chance to just add to more and more worthless excuses. If you look at other sporting codes, there was always the likelihood that these people would retire.
South Africa lost the likes of John Smit, Victor Matfield, Bakkies Botha, Guthro Steenkamp, Fourie Du Preez, Danie Rossouw amongst others.
The NBA lost Magic Johnson, and got Michael Jordan, who retired and up stepped LeBron James and Kobie Bryant.
Golf still has Jack Nicklaus, and his record amount of Major Wins is almost equalled by Tiger Woods.
Pete Sampras retired and Roger Federer overtook him.
So what is stopping Patrick Lambie, Johan Goosen, Eben Etzebeth and young up and coming players from becoming legends in their own right? I believe that the biggest problem is the big amount of bullshit we are fed week in, week out. Heyneke Meyer, please get your head out your ass and actually listen to the public for a chance. @Sharkie187
